TBox connector pinout

Pin assignment of the Aiways U5 TBox (Telematics Box) connectors. Teardown and chip list: TBox teardown.

BD49 — main connector (40-way, white)

BD49 TBox harness plug, front view

The drawing shows the harness plug from the front (its mating face, latch on top). Seen from the back, where the wires enter, the layout is mirrored: pin 1 is then top right.

Pin Wire (mm²) Colour Function
1 0.35 G/L Ignition (IGN)
5 0.5 Y Microphone 2 −
6 0.5 L Microphone in +
8 0.5 L Audio input +
10 0.35 O/R E-Call/B-Call indicator lamp ground
11 0.5 Br/R Collision signal input (airbag)
19 0.5 Gr/R CAN-H
20 0.5 W/Y Battery + (permanent 12 V)
25 0.5 B/R Microphone 2 +
26 0.5 V Microphone in −
28 0.5 V Audio input −
30 0.34 R/W E-Call/B-Call indicator lamp power
33 0.35 Br/R B-Call indicator lamp output
34 0.35 Y/R E-Call indicator lamp output
39 0.5 Gr/L CAN-L
40 0.5 B Ground

All other positions are empty.

Bench operation needs only pin 20 (12 V), 40 (ground), 1 (ignition) and 19/39 (CAN). Everything else is for eCall/bCall: two microphone pairs, an audio input, the crash signal and the indicator lamps. There is no USB, Ethernet or debug UART on this connector.

Pin Function
1 USB D−
2 Ground
3 USB D+

There is no +5 V; the TBox is powered through BD49. The other end is BD55 on the head unit (2 = D+, 3 = GND, 4 = D−, pin 1 not connected). No end-view drawing of BD48 is available — ring the pins out before trusting an orientation.
