Upload your vehicle report
Step 1: Upload the file ADC-1-REPORT_<VIN>.txt from your stick – it is only a few KB. Step 2 only comes if we need your firmware: the answer then tells you which file to upload as well. Never upload the folder PRIVATE_DO-NOT-UPLOAD – it holds your private data and stays with you.
The vehicle report holds the vehicle identification number (VIN), the firmware versions of the head unit and the T-Box, and checksums. No keys, no SIM data, no GPS, no personal settings. You can look at it in any text editor before uploading.
Why? We want to preserve every firmware version that exists for the U5/U6 for the community – but not the same one a hundred times. After the upload you see right away whether we already have your version or are looking for it.

Privacy: uploading your vehicle report
In short: you upload a small text file that the backup stick wrote onto the stick (adc-report_<VIN>.txt). It contains your car's vehicle identification number (VIN) and the versions and checksums of the head unit's and the T-Box's software — nothing else. We use it only for the community's firmware archive. You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
Who is responsible? Aiways Drivers Community e.v.i.G — address and contact: see the legal notice.
What we store
– the content of the file: VIN, the date and time the report was created, the head unit's software versions and checksums (MD5), the T-Box software versions, the number of T-Box files backed up and the version of the backup software. The file is plain text — feel free to read it before uploading; there is nothing else in it;
– your e-mail address, if you give one (optional);
– the time of the upload.
The VIN is personal data, because the vehicle registration links it to a person. That is how we treat it.
What we do not get: no keys, no SIM data, no GPS data or trips, no personal settings, no phone books — none of that is in the file. Your IP address is not stored. It is held briefly in memory to slow down abuse (at most 10 uploads per hour) and is forgotten again one hour after your last upload. The web server keeps no access log.
What for
1. To know which software runs in the cars today — per vehicle, with a history if you send another report later.
2. To see whether your version is still missing from the firmware archive. If it is and you gave an e-mail address, we write to you and ask for your backup (with a personal upload link). That is optional too.
3. For public statistics — aggregated only, e.g. "37 cars report version 861977026A_086". We never publish a VIN or an e-mail address.
If we need your firmware (optional): if the answer after uploading the report is "Wanted" or "New to us", the page asks for a second file from the stick: ADC-2-FIRMWARE_<VIN>.zip. It holds your head unit's software (only if we do not have that version yet) and/or your T-Box's software (programs, libraries, CAN matrix) plus a copy of your report. No personal data: the stick does not back up user data at all, and parts whose content may be vehicle-specific, as well as everything personal of the T-Box (keys, settings, SIM data, trip recorder, logs), never go into this file. We check that its content matches your report exactly and read out the version numbers. The file is kept, not public, on the community's server for as long as the firmware archive exists; we remove the copy of the report (with the VIN) from it, it stays linked to your report by its reference and is deleted with it when you ask for deletion.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), given with the tick box in the form. Uploading is voluntary. You can withdraw your consent at any time; an informal e-mail is enough. The withdrawal applies to the future; what was processed until then stays lawful.
Where the data lives and who sees it: on the community's server at Hetzner Online GmbH in the Nuremberg data centre (Germany), not public and separate from the wiki. Hetzner only runs the server (data processing on our behalf). Only the community's administrators have access. We pass the data on to no one, sell nothing, and this page sets no cookies and uses no tracking.
How long: vehicle reports for as long as the firmware archive exists — or until you ask for deletion. Your e-mail address until your matter is settled, at most 12 months.
Your rights: access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and withdrawal of your consent (Art. 7(3)). For access or deletion, an e-mail to the address in the legal notice with your VIN or the reference shown after the upload is enough. You can also complain to a data-protection supervisory authority (Art. 77), for example the one for your place of residence.
There is no automated decision-making and no profiling: the answer after the upload ("we have it" / "wanted" / "new to us") is only a comparison of your version number with our list.
